I'm not a Henry Cavill fan. The man has said some things about the #metoo' movement that has made him permanently side-eye him. However, I'm a sucker for a man in a white wig and a European-esque accent (see my love of Legolas) and everyone was squeeing about season 2 of this show.
Not to mention my lovely partner has been a 'Witcher' fan since the beginning. I will admit right off the bat my first attempt when horribly. I made some assumptions that this was another 'Game of Thrones' where there were only two Black characters and they were servants. I will not talk about the tropes of Barbabic Indigenous men (I love Jason Momoa but that wasn't it).
But my friend Momo told me that I was wrong and to give another a chance. So I recently did on my vacation and after the second episode, I was hooked. So many awesome Black characters in all shades, and the Black hair this season? It's perfection.
I was expecting myself to fall in love Geralt/Jaskier and I did. However, I didn't mean to fall in love with Yennefer as well. The thing about Henry Cavill, which despite not being a fan, I have followed his career off and on since 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. No matter what film he is in, the man tends to always have horrible onscreen chemistry with his love interests. 'Man of Steel' and 'Man From Uncle' is a prime example of that. He always has tons of chemistry with his male co-stars, though.
So again, I wasn't really all that surprised. But then Yennefer happened, actually, all of the fantastic female characters happened but Yennefer remains the HBIC, okay? Yennfer and Geralt's chemistry was sizzling and I love Yennfer and I was shipping them like FedEx.
So what is a fan to do but ship all three of them together? Actually, no one in this series is straight (I don't give a fuck what anyone else to say and do not bring up Andrzej Sapkowski). As an author my damnself, I do believe in death of the author.
I will also take it one step further: I believe in my heart of hearts no one in this series is monogamous. Also Geralt with the wig, the gold eyes, and that Christian Bale batman voice is just hot like burning.
So this new year's eve I will finish binging Witcher season 2. I will of course give my review. So strap in folks!
